Celebrating 60 years of Education in St. Mary's

25th Sep 2017

On Friday 22nd September Bishop Farquhar celebrated mass in our school. The concelebrated mass is part of our diamond jubilee celebrations to mark this very special year in the history of our school.

Members of the Clergy from our local parishes, along with former pupils and staff joined us in our mass and celebration of 60 years of Education.

Bishop Farquhar noted that some 10,000 girls have been through the doors of St. Mary's during this time. It is quite an astonishing statistic. St. Mary's was quite a big part of many people's lives.

Past members of staff and pupils joined us in this very special occasion. They were all an important  part of the 60 year journey. It was so lovely to see them all.

This was a time to reminisce and it was hard not to think of "how things were". However one thing remains the same and always will. Each child who comes through our door is welcomed with open arms, is guided with due care and attention, is helped to stay on course and is afforded the opportunity to dream and to achieve.

"Every child matters" - all 10,000 of them have and we hope many more will, in the future
