17th Jan 2016
St Mary’s High School Open Night 14.1.16

“Every Child Matters”

The Principal, Mrs Darling, welcomed parents and students to St Mary`s. The Principal spoke of the outstanding educational outcomes secured for young people with 100% of students at both GCSE and A Level gaining their qualifications.

Reference was made to comments made by the Education Minister when he said “Education must not act as a barrier to social mobility, every child must be supported to learn and encouraged to learn”

Mrs Darling said “in this school we work hard to develop every child`s personality, talents, and abilities to the full. Every child is treated as an individual, with dignity and respect. In St Mary`s every child knows they matter.

The school promotes a can-do attitude, with every child being helped to believe in themselves and helped to understand that hard work brings results.

The Principal spoke of the importance of children being happy in school, and noted that in St Mary`s children are happy, and staff are supportive often going the extra mile to support students.

Parents were reminded they are the first educators; she said “Education begins in the home and when parents’ value education children will follow suit. “We are fortunate to have very supportive parents and extended families who work in close partnership with us to secure an outstanding education for our students”
