St. Mary’s High School hosted a SHED event led by student council members from all 3 schools on Tuesday 7th November. The SHED activity concerned the issue of the ‘elderly in our community ‘with specific reference to those who live in nursing homes. Throughout the morning, students learnt where our elderly population live and reasons why they may live in supported accommodation. The 3 student councils had to find out the names of local nursing/residential homes in the area and gain an understanding on what elderly people require to have a good quality of life. A lot of research was carried out to find solutions to access funds to go ahead with some tasks that have been planned for the coming months. A great day was had by all students involved, many thanks to the teachers for their involvement.
